Even the night before I knew the day would be very wet with the wind very close to the northern limit for the ridge but Pete and I decided we wanted to go anyway. The usual routine, get up at 5 ( normally 0430 but I wanted a long lie) check weather and notams then drive 200+ miles each way.Had a great day flying with Rod in his beautiful DUO. but the weather was as expected and the cloud base was around 2000'QNH droping near the coast to less than 1400'. We got a nice wave climb through a gap but it all closed in and we could hear the same was happening all over Wales with 8/8 at 6-700' being reported further south...I just hope everyone got down ok.
Dengigh offers fantastic facilities and most importantly, good soaring when there is a southerly component in the wind which might be of interest to the ridge running guys at Nympsfield. I will definitely go back especially as I still have not done the ridge run that I want to do. Thanks Rod and the Denbigh Gliding Club
TPs are only approximate as we need some new tps to cover the ridge tasks |
