Hi Stephen, For operational reasons I needed to assess how popular each flight claim is when visitors want to view the Flight Details page, so the counter is there mainly for my benefit. Then I thought it would also be of interest to the wider world so I put it live for all to see. Agreed, there may be some sad g*ts who have nothing better to do than press the refresh key a few hundred times, but that says more about them than the wisdom of making the information available. I would be happy to pull the view counts if I hear from a few more of the other 656 pilots who have taken part so far in this season's ladder. Your list includes only some of the many more useful fiunctions that have been suggested to me for inclusion on the daily scores page. When (hah!) I get round to refurbishing the website, some of them will be included. Agreed - I think comments ought to be provided for all flights. BUT, I would rather have points awarded for flying performance than for spilling a few random characters into the comments box. Best regards John ## On 01-Sep-09 17:38:00 Stephen Haley wrote: While I am a great fan of this site and think that it has been steadily getting better and better the latest inovation of no of views has me somewhat flumoxed - can someone explain the benefit of this to the outside world?? It would appear to simply be another competition in the making ie my flight has had more views than others - could also be viewed as somewhat dispiriting to those who end up with a small no of views. As it doesnt appear to take account of IP addresses/users then it is open to abuse anyway and will only result in the site traffic being upped to the detrement of others. There are many things that would be far more interesting to see on the summary such as % completed, Turbo/SL etc etc Another thing that would be usefull is being able to link off like being able to 1) click on a Name and get all their flights up in a different window 2) Click on a club and get all the flights just for that club 3) Filter for a specific task etc etc Yes I know that some of this is possible by filtering in the drop down boxes but it is a longer winded process... My vote for what it is worth is to pull this. Would also be nice to add 100 points for those adding a description to their flight - far too few people do this. rgds Stephen Haley BTW had to beat up my work IT to get the google maps link ("maps.google.com/staticmap") re-enabled. They told me it was now out of date so that had killed it in the firewall.. See http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/staticmaps/
