Thanks Tim - Glad there's someone on this site who knows what he is doing... I couldn't find a Reduce Leg Distance option in my SeeYou (doesn't mean it isn't there, of course) ... but I did find an option to Move Origin, which has the same effect. cheers John ## On 03-Sep-09 18:45:00 Tim Davies wrote: Hi John That is great news. Too get SeeYou to reduce the length ... In Tasks, right click and choose Task Properties, then in Reduce leg distance for the relevant TPs, Start or Finish. Alternatively set up a Scheme in Tools, Options, Observation Zones. That said, I had a closer look at the maths and found that there *was* an error which, after some effort, has now been fixed. The upshot is that your task turns out to be a 28% triangle whichever sector type you use. Whether you use TIB or TB1 as a start/finish point is irrelevant as far as the shape factor goes - that is determined by the triangle DIS-PIC-NOE-DIS. My version of SeeYou does not modify distances from FAI sectors to barrel sectors - it always seems to use FAI sector distances, so I still reckon the Ladder calculator is correct (...unless you tell me otherwise...). Right - got to get back to some real work! rgds John ## On 01-Sep-09 11:34:00 Tim Davies wrote: John Our club 100ish km triangle is causing confusion as it flips from being a 28% triangle to not depending on the turning point style used. TIB - DIS - PIC - NOE - TIB or reversed Gives with FAI sectors: 28.2%/37.6% Triangle Basis FAI 28% - Shape 1.080 And with barrels: 27.8%/37.3% Triangle Basis FAI 25/45 - Shape 1.050 I'm sure your maths is right - is this what you'd expect to happen and is it as a result of the start on leg? If you move the start/finish to TB1 it is interesting is that SeeYou give both variants as 28% triangles but your calculator doesn't ! Cheers
